Green commuting app
mobilite.eco is an app developped by SmartB designed to supports companies and local authorities that are committed to sustainable mobility.
This web and mobile application motivate employees to adopt eco-responsible behaviors on home-to-work trips.
The service (free for up to 5 users) makes the deployment of the sustainable mobility package accessible to all organisations. Web and mobile applications accelerate the implementation and automate the management of the sustainable mobility package:
– Employers obtain evidence of good practices achieved by employees, and can thus reward the employees concerned (e.g. cyclists, rewarded via mileage allowance).
– Local authorities can endorse or directly finance mobility campaigns, benefiting from full traceability for each euro invested.
The project is developed as part of the Urban Lab experiment, and proof is provided thanks to the SmartB Blockchain.
Transport is the leading greenhouse gas emitting sector, accounting for 30% of emissions.
In France, 93% of CO2 emissions from local travel are due to the car, which is used in the ⅔ cases.
7 out of 10 French people travel to work by car, 58% of home-work trips of less than 1km are made by car, and only 2% of working people travel to work by bicycle.
Transport is the 1st item of expenditure for a household (18% of the budget on average), ahead of food and housing. 1 French person in 4 has already turned down a job because there is no way to get there.
Finally, in 80% of the territory, no local authority offers a solution for everyday transport.
Passed in December 2019, this law brings unprecedented investments: €13.4 billion over the period 2017-2022, with priority given to everyday transport. It also provides new solutions for getting around more easily. The law also reflects a desire to take advantage of the digital revolution to offer new services to users. Finally, it aims to use cleaner transport, with, in particular, the inclusion in the law of the end of sales of carbon fossil fuel cars by 2040, the deployment of electric recharging and the development of low-emission zones.
More in detail, this law provides in particular for :
The development of alternative solutions to the private car proposed by local authorities over 100% of the territory, thanks to simpler, less costly tools that are better adapted to their needs, which they will now be able to implement: car sharing, transport on demand, autonomous shuttles, etc. To achieve this, the State is setting up funding and calls for projects: for example, €500M are being mobilised by the State over the period 2017-2022 to co-finance mobility projects with local authorities.
Putting home-work mobility at the heart of social dialogue in companies: it will become a mandatory topic of social negotiation to ensure that companies commit to facilitating their employees’ journeys. This support could take the form of a mobility voucher, based on the meal ticket model.
A sustainable mobility package, up to €400/year to go to work by carpooling or cycling: employers will be able to contribute to their employees’ travel costs through this package, which is exempt from tax and social security contributions. The State will extend it to all its employees from 2020 at a rate of 200 €/year.
An innovative cycling plan to triple its share of travel: creation of a €350 million cycling fund, fight against theft with the gradual generalisation of bicycle marking and secure parking, creation of a sustainable mobility package, generalisation of cycling skills at school, etc.
A plan to make carpooling an everyday solution, by allowing local authorities to subsidise carpoolers, by opening up the possibility of creating reserved lanes on the outskirts of metropolises, by setting up a sustainable mobility package, etc.
The mobilite.eco solution
mobilite.eco enables companies and local authorities to manage the deployment of devices provided for under the LOM law by speeding up implementation and automating the management of proof of mobility.
Through the intermediary of companies in a job pool, local authorities have a multiplied, direct and targeted power of action.
The use of proof of mobility (instead of personal data and movements) makes it possible to implement targeted actions on the territory, to protect citizens’ privacy and to ensure the financial traceability of each euro invested.
